
Welcome to the Zhang Zhao Lab website. We are part of the College of Horticulture at China Agricultural University. We are located on the West campus of China Agricultural University, Haidian District, Beijing, China.
We take comparative and functional genomic approaches to dissect complex traits in horticultural crops, with a current focus on ornamental plants (flowers). We exploit the natural diversity of these plant genomes to identify genes responsible for disease resistance, floral scents and other (quantitative) traits and then apply it to breeding.
Recently, we integrated functional gene-based molecular markers into Genomic Selection (GS) models, achieving high predictive accuracy for complex traits.
Additionally, the lab actively develops innovative bioinformatics tools, leveraging cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) to bolster our research. Our current toolkit includes automated quantitative measurement of disease lesions of plants, precise prediction of transcriptional regulatory networks (GRNs), and computationally efficient, high-throughput protein–protein interaction (PPI) modeling.

课题组致力于数据驱动的园艺作物品质及抗性改良。结合正、反向遗传学,解析园艺作物、特别是观赏植物的花香合成、病害防御等复杂(数量)性状的形成机理、自然变异、转录调控及育种应用。
近期,我们将基于功能基因开发的分子标记用于全基因组选择模型(GS),取得了对复杂性状精准预测的良好效果。
课题组也积极开发创新的生物信息学工具,融入前沿的人工智能(AI)技术,为我们的研究提供支持。我们目前的软件包括植物病斑的自动化定量测量、转录调控网络(GRNs)的精准预测以及高通量、低计算资源依赖的蛋白相互作(PPI)建模。
